The school offers a varied programme of events and trips outside school, usually two weeks a year.
These activities will be partly the choice of individual pupils (for example, the project school in June) and partly given and designed to develop the school curriculum (for example, a skiing or boating course).
A number of events outside the school will be linked to the volunteering programme.
The concept of the role of the teacher is something that distinguishes VIA from traditional Czech schools. Teachers are not primarily expected to impart ready-made knowledge to children. At the same time, we do not see them as mere guides who merely accompany the child on his or her journey of learning.
We see the role of the teacher as active in creating a stimulating environment where every child can learn fully and with joy.
Pupils benefit from the unified approach of teachers who bring a clear structure or a coherent system of progressive development of skills and literacy to lessons.
By working with clearly described outcomes and criteria for their assessment, the VIA teacher helps pupils to evaluate for themselves what and how they are doing and what they need to move forward in their education.
The tuition fee for students entering in September 2026 is set at CZK 190 000 per year for the entire period of study. The amount can only change based on inflation.
The founder (Tipsport Foundation) provides social scholarships, which make the school more widely accessible.
The middle school transfer exams consist of mathematics, Czech language, English language and a group-dynamic part led by a school psychologist in one block.
The aim of the knowledge tests is to check the starting level of the pupils. The dynamic part of the meeting gives us the opportunity to have a more spontaneous and different contact with the candidates from the previous tests.
It is important for us to get to know the students and parents. Another part of „offence“ is therefore a meeting between parents and school management, whilemco pupils speak individually with school psychologist Jana Soukupová at the same time.
My name is Gilberto Conti. I am Brazilian and Portuguese, and I have been living in the Czech Republic for more than 15 years. I completed my Master's degree in Theatre at DAMU and am currently finishing my PhD in Theatre and Arts at Charles University. I have been teaching at international schools and Waldorf schools for over 25 years. It's so nice to be a part of the Via Beroun project, where the school respects the students and helps them develop their skills.
I love art, nature, puppets, astronomy, books, traveling, sports and to play musical instruments :).
Bára has worked with children as a leader and nurse at camps since she was a child. She organized summer art camps, camps for teenagers and adaptation courses. Although Bára is a social educator, she soon found herself swapping the role of teaching assistant for that of a teacher - ideally of pupils in Key Stage 2. Prior to joining VIA Beroun, she worked as a deputy principal at the Czech-English Montessori Gymnasium Duhovka, where she led a team of classroom teachers and a pastoral care team for the junior high school. What attracted her to the Beroun project was the opportunity to build a school from scratch and be part of a fledgling team.
In her free time she enjoys sports (running, skiing, swimming), travelling and trips with her family.
Luke has worked as an English teacher in the Czech Republic since 2010. From 2014 to 2022, he worked in Open Gate as an English teacher and head of the Primary School English Department. He studied English and Geography in University, and later obtained a Diploma in Psychology. He has a Diploma and Certificate in Teaching English as a Foriegn Language. He believes that teaching children should be fun and interactive. Lessons should be dynamic, entertaining and the children should leave each class with a smile on his or her face.
When he is not teaching, he enjoys performing stand up comedy. He formed Comedy Prague in 2013 and regularly performs in Prague and Europe. He also enjoys watching football, listening to music and running.
Peter Sokol studied English and History at the Faculty of Education in České Budějovice. Before joining VIA he gained his teaching experience at three schools - Primary School Propojení in Sedlčany, Open Gate and Gymnasium Duhovka. At the same time, he cooperates on projects dedicated to the education of history teachers. Currently, he is developing the Czech version of the Facing History and Ourselves programme with the Antikomplex organisation.
Apart from education, Peter enjoys good films, especially those shown at the Sedlčany Film Club, which he has been running for several years.
Since high school, Jana knew that the uniqueness of personal stories, the dynamics of relationships, the diversity of behaviors and the mystery of emotions would be an area she would like to explore. She studied psychology and special education at Charles University in Prague and is glad she wasn't wrong. Her professional journey has been connected to children and young adults from the beginning, across socio-economic backgrounds and relational backgrounds. She enjoys variety and challenge in her working life. She has worked with children growing up in orphanages, in educational-psychological counseling centers, special education centers, and in recent years she has devoted herself to her favorite activity - psychotherapy and school psychology in Czech and international schools. What brought her to VIA School was the meaning that the school concept gives her and the emphasis on the interest in holistic growth and satisfaction of students and teachers.
She enjoys living with her family and friends, exploring the world, going to the beach with a backpack on her back, reading, following trends in Czech fashion and design and much more.
